Banana Keyboard
Peter's achievements as a digital music instrument developer, include the SoundHouse Special Access KitTM, incorporating the Banana Keyboard, which provides a unique system to allow not only people with disabilities but all young children to access to the wonderful world of music creation.
The first banana keyboard is part of the collection at Melbourne's Science Works Museum in 2001, and forms part of its travelling exhibition on electronics. The kits are in use in schools, special schools, colleges, hospitals and care facilities in Australia and in a growing number of international communities, including New Zealand, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, England, Northern Ireland, Eire, South Africa and the USA.
"Peter wrote the SoundHouse Special Access KitTM software to enable the control of the kit, and his ingenuity in developing new features for the most recent upgrade of the software was outstanding. Users of the kit worldwide can now share their work for the kit via uploading to the Arts Centre website, thus creating an international community of those working in this vital field."
